Today, Little One, I’m rejoicing
Today there is no longer gay marriage
And straight marriage
Officially recognized marriage
And debated marriage
There is just love
Love has won
Today, Little One, I’m crying
Because the world has shifted just a little
And this will be your world
A world where you can marry
Whomever you love
Love has won
Today, Little One, I’m hoping
If your love doesn’t fit some people’s standards
And you feel different
That you’ll be a little less afraid of loving
And of loving yourself
Love has won
Today, Little One, I’m praying
That you’ll never feel broken or damaged
And never feel ashamed
You’re fearfully and wonderfully made
No matter whom you love
Love has won
*While I’m not a parent, someday I would love to be one. So I found myself thinking about what the Supreme Court’s decision would mean for my own Little One if I’m ever a parent.
