One night an angel played her violin
As Your virgin mother’s lullaby echoed in
A stable
Stable

Like a knight, You stormed my heart
Cracked Hell open so we’d never part
Grateful
Grateful

But then my Savior rode away
You left me with Your mob
On that wretched day
They threw book shaped stones and crucified verses
And wondered why we wouldn’t join their churches

Wives submitted ‘til their arms were blue
Pastors claimed this horror came from You
Shameful
Shameful

The God blessed bruises haunted my dreams
My eyes burned red imagining their screams
Hateful
Hateful

But then my Savior rode away
You left me with Your mob
On that wretched day
They threw book shaped stones and crucified verses
And wondered why we wouldn’t join their churches

I cringed at my once baneful blind trust
And prayed my abusive Knight was just
A fable
Fable

Found the truth, I know they lied
But the Spirit in me already died
Painful
Painful
